Preparation for Pranayama:
3 day Yoga & Pranayama Immersion
with Kim Kolibri
3 Mornings of Practice: Tues. 2/15 – Thurs. 2/17
at 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM PST. Online
FREE as part of our student appreciation week!
In this series we will look at the poses that are most helpful for preparing for pranayama. They include active poses and supportive, restorative poses.
The benefits of pranayama are potent: providing emotional support and clarity of mind. Pranayama gets you away from your devices, helping you start your day from a place of connection and stillness. A daily practice of pranayama gives you a well of inner support which you can use to navigate your days skillfully.
Here is your starting point for learning the Iyengar Yoga approach to pranayama and meditation. Each class will include asana and pranayama. In the asana portion we will look at how specific props in asana can support your pranayama practice. And, we will explore a variety of pranayama set ups so you can see which ones are best for you.
This immersion is progressive and interactive, so please attend live every day if you can.
The series requires you to have specific props: 4 blankets, 2 bricks, a strap and a chair. Encouraged is a pink head wrap (available at Adeline Yoga or IYNAUS) and a bolster. If you don’t have a yoga chair that is ok! Please have two regular chairs of the same size.
This series is best for people who have studied asana with a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher for at least 6 months. No previous pranayama experience needed.
We plan that this immersion will be recorded. Every registrant will receive access to the recording for two weeks.
Free! We appreciate our students and want to support your practice! This is part of our student appreciation week.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Kim Kolibri (she/her) has been a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher since 2003. She brings her whole heart and soul to the subject of YOG. As a teacher, Kim is well skilled to teach a broad age range (young to elderly), as well as those with mild to moderate therapeutic issues. In this phase of her teaching, Kim is inspired to share the foundational aspects of Iyengar Yoga – including pranayama, applied Samkhya Philosophy, and Mantra Sadhana – to all that want to learn.
Kim has studied with the Iyengar family many times. She is a spiritual pilgrim by nature and has traveled extensively in India, Nepal, and Tibet in search of whatever is meant to be revealed. She is a longtime devotee of Sri Ramakrishna and an avid student of all things Vedic including Sanskrit, Mantra Sadhana, Vedic Philosophy and Jyotish Astrology.
A long time member of the Iyengar Yoga community, Kim helped to spearhead the creation of the IYNAUS Archives and served as the Director of Archives for many years. She also managed the BKS Iyengar Yoga Center of San Diego for over 10 years.
