Building Confidence in Inversions: A Weekend Immersion with Anneke Faas

Building Confidence in Inversions: A Weekend Immersion with Anneke Faas
Saturday & Sunday November 21 and 22nd from 1:30 – 4 pm each day
Join us at the studio in Berkeley
You’ve learned the basics. You’ve practiced Śīrṣāsana and Sarvāṅgāsana. Maybe you’ve even begun experimenting with balancing. But the actions still aren’t completely clear—and practicing inversions on your own can feel uncertain.
This weekend immersion is designed to help you take the next step. Inversions bring clarity and vitality to the mind and body – once you feel confident doing them. So let’s get to it!
Over two days, Anneke will break down the essential actions of Śīrṣāsana (Headstand) and Sarvāṅgāsana (Shoulderstand), giving you time to practice, ask questions, and develop greater confidence in how you approach these important poses.
We’ll explore how to create stability through the shoulders, arms, and upper back so that your neck feels great!. We will look at different ways of entering and exiting the poses; and how to begin developing the balance and understanding needed to practice with confidence.
In Sarvāṅgāsana, you’ll experiment with different blanket and mat setups and learn how thoughtful support can change the experience of the pose. We’ll also look at common difficulties and how to adapt your setup to your own needs.
With two days to work, there will be time not simply to “do” the inversions, but to understand them—to repeat, refine, and begin making these poses more truly your own.
Who is this program for? It is best suited for students who regularly attend Fundamentals, Continuing Beginner, or comparable Iyengar Yoga classes and already have some experience with Śīrṣāsana and Sarvāṅgāsana. You do not need to be able to balance independently in the middle of the room. In fact, this weekend is especially for students who are ready to work toward that next level of confidence and independence.
This program is in-person only. Tuition covers both Saturday and Sunday attendance.
