Our flick for the evening: Sita Sings the Blues. Enjoy this unique encounter with the Ramayana, one of India’s great and important epics. Sita Sings the Blues is a playful, inventive, and even provocative retelling of the Ramayana. The film gives us a chance to encounter this ancient story through a uniquely modern lens. It asks us to consider how questions of love, loyalty, duty, sacrifice, power, and dharma can look very different depending on whose perspective we inhabit. The movie is funny, visually inventive and full of the big questions we yogis love to consider. It literally illustrates how these ancient and important stories are still being interpreted and brought to life in new ways. You don’t need to know the Ramayana beforehand!
