This healing program focuses on soothing the low back, sacrum, groins and hips. We will take a break from externally rotating the legs and instead do a sequence with linear, parallel legs. Yes, no external rotations!
This emphasis will include all sorts of fabulous approaches including groin savasana, dandasana, ardha uttanasana, and urdhva prasarita padasana. We will work mostly with legs together. These poses will help stabilize and create space in the low back, groins and hips.
Kelly has found great benefits to this sequence during sciatica flare-ups and hip pain when nothing else works. You will have a practice to use when the hips start to ache or when it is difficult to bear weight on the legs. After the workshop, you will be given a copy of the sequence to add to your personal toolkit.
Low back or hips not exactly the problem? We got you covered! Those who tend to have tight groins and unevenness in the sacral area can really benefit from these parallel leg positions. This practice is all about keeping the legs synchronized, which can even have an especially positive effect of spinal elongation.
You will learn:
This course is designed for those with at least 1 years of consistent Iyengar Yoga practice and are comfortable with inversions. Modifications can be given if anyone is menstruating during the workshop or one can take notes and then practice the asana via the recording. Teachers and teachers-in-training who want to learn to better help their students are most welcome.
This workshop is not for students who have complex spine, sacrum or hip conditions. These conditions can be better addressed with private yoga sessions. If you have questions about whether this program is for you, please email info@adelineyoga.com before registering.
For this workshop you will need the props typical in an Iyengar Yoga class. Please have 1 regular belt, 3 blankets, 1 bolster, 1 backless yoga chair, 2 blocks & a cleared off wall space. You can purchase any props from Adeline Yoga (pick up in Berkeley).
