Step it Up (side down)! Headstand & Shoulderstand
Headstand and Shoulderstand are two of the most beneficial poses yoga offers, yet many students are intimidated by these fully inverted asanas, or unsure how they should be practiced safely. In this workshop you will learn the building blocks for developing both the strength and flexibility needed to perform these poses with ease.
Regular practice of inverted poses like headstand and shoulderstand help us to change our perspective, defy gravity and build courage, as well as nourish all the vital systems of the body. Non-weight bearing options of these poses will also be offered for students currently working with neck and shoulder conditions.
It is recommended that students have taken a Iyengar Yoga Fundamentals course and/or have participated in a Level 1 class regularly for at least three months. Basic experience with standing poses, downward facing dog and shoulderstand preparation are also helpful. You will have time to ask questions and address any doubts so that you can practice inversions with confidence.
This workshop is part of the “Step It Up!” Series for regular level 1 students who want to progress to level 2 classes.
