Happy Knees with Kim Healey

Happy Knees
Yoga to Create Space & Alignment
with Kim Healey
May 2nd from 2 – 4:30 pm
Stiff knees? Hyper mobile knees? Or just want to learn more to ensure happy knees in your future?
Come learn some knee love for your asana practice with Kimberley Healey.
Iyengar Yoga can be an excellent solution to address many knee issues – and help stop them from turning into complicated problems. Practicing certain poses can increase stabilization in the leg muscles, helping you to improve your knee and leg health. This workshop will cover standing and seated poses, modifications for knee pain, creative use of props and alignment of the entire leg.
When your knees feel loved, your practice becomes so beneficial!
What you can expect:
By the end of this workshop you will know useful steps to promote knee health and how to practice Foundations and Continuing Beginner poses with modifications for knee constraints. There will be time to ask questions and address your specific situations so that you can practice with confidence at home and at the studio. You will leave this workshop knowing that you can address your knee concerns proactively and with care to deepen your practice.
Who this is for:
This workshop is geared towards students with at least six months of study in Iyengar yoga. If you are attending our foundations, continuing beginner, intermediate and advanced classes, this is a great workshop for you. Those on a track for Iyengar Yoga teacher education will benefit too. You do not need to have a knee injury or pain to benefit from this workshop.
This workshop will also be helpful for those with hypermobility in the knee joint. When our knees are happier, practice can be so delightful!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Kimberley Healey (she/her) is a CIYT and has been practicing Iyengar Yoga for nearly 30 years. She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.
Kim’s teaching is joyous, lively and informed by her academic background in literature and philosophy. She loves teaching teenagers and has brought Iyengar Yoga to high school students for the last few years.
Kimberley fractured her tibial plateau playing soccer long before she ever did Iyengar Yoga. Through years of practice, adaptation with prompts, asking lots of questions and listening to her own body, she has learned to love her stiff knee, the screws in her bones and to welcome the challenges of two very different knees. Her approach to her own knee health has been to find the balance between being proactive and cultivating deep patience, a lifelong yogic journey!
