Caring for Your Neck and Shoulder Pain with Athena Pappas

There is really nobody in our modern culture who doesn’t experience some neck and shoulder tension. When it is not addressed it can turn into a chronic problem that causes headaches, jaw tension and general discomfort.
In each session of this progressive course Athena will offer postures to help release current neck and shoulder tension as well as re-pattern the muscles and alignment of the neck and shoulders to avoid future pain. Participants will gain more complete understanding of neck and shoulder care to apply to their practice by participating in all three sessions however drop-ins are ok.
This is a unique opportunity to study with Athena Pappas, a well known Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher based in San Francisco. With Athena, you will learn ways to practice at home and take care of yourself in regular yoga classes.
This series is open to ALL LEVELS of students.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Athena Pappas is a well known Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher based in San Francisco. She has been studying and practicing yoga since 1989, she began teaching in 1998.
Athena finds great joy in teaching yoga. Her instruction is clear and concise, emphasizing alignment and awareness; encouraging focus and balance for mind and body. She teaches with skill, confidence and a sense of humor. Athena shares with her students the benefits of yoga for physical and emotional well-being. She strongly believes that yoga is more than a physical discipline; it is a many faceted gem offering us the tools necessary to achieve true and lasting transformation.
Athena continues to refine her teaching skills and deepen her knowledge of yoga through ongoing study with Senior Iyengar teacher Manouso Manos. She has studied under B.K.S. Iyengar in Pune, India.
She has appeared in the pages of Yoga Journal, The Body Shop Yoga: A Natural Fitness for Body and Spirit and in The Woman’s Book of Yoga and Health. Athena teaches full-time in San Francisco and is President of the Board of Directors for the Iyengar Yoga Association of Northern California / the Iyengar Institute in San Francisco.
