Pranayama is a deeply transformative practice on all levels, physical and emotional. It is your daily opportunity to connect with your embodiment, taking a dip into the deep quiet and expansiveness inside yourself.  Being with a community of people committed to the same endeavor is a valuable opportunity to learn techniques and approaches that can inspire and direct your practice.

This series held via Zoom will focus on enhancing your sitting pranayama practice. You will receive valuable guidance on seated Ujjayi and Viloma, specifically Ujjayi V – VIII and Viloma IV – VI.

During the series we will explore a variety of sitting positions and the unique use of props to stabilize and support your practice.   We will also look at specific techniques employed in reclining pranayama that are incredibly effective, though rarely taught in public classes.

Students will be expected to practice daily between sessions. Optional reading from Light on Pranayama will be assigned.

Recordings will be available to participants for 14 days after each session.

Who is it for? This is for students who are already well versed in the practice of Ujjayi I – V and Viloma I – III.  You should have been taught pranayama in Iyengar Yoga classes, and already practice savasana and pranayama on your own at home.

Students who are new to pranayama or to Iyengar Yoga should participate in our Pranayama for Beginners program on Monday mornings.  Pranayama for Beginners will introduce you to the foundation practices in reclining pranayama, a prerequisite for this pranayama series.  Register here for Pranayama for Beginners.

Each participant will need four blankets, three yoga blocks and a chair.

Plan to log-onto zoom 10 minutes before each class for Q & A.
