6 DAYS OF EXPLORATION
WITH HEATHER HAXO PHILLIPS
located on the shores of the Sea of Cortez on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula
Taking a week off from your life will have incredible physical, mental, and emotional benefits. It is a time to disconnect from your devices, reconnect with nature and hear yourself think. You can nourish the connection you have with your self. Truely, this is an opportunity to feel supported through the connection to nature, community and self.
We will have pranayama, asana, and philosophy study together. And, plenty of time to rest in the hammock and enjoy an excursion or two. You can expect the food to be incredible, and the conversation to be meaningful.
This part of the Baja peninsula is considered the world’s aquarium, with a unique interplay between sun, water and sand. You can look forward to daily walks on the beach, watching the dolphins play and checking out the unique rock formations. We can be in and out of the water trying kayaking, sup or even kite surfing depending on the weather.
Or stay on the property and enjoy the amenities! Casa Tara itself has an outdoor pool overlooking the sea, a pampering spa, and excellent restaurant. You can enjoy the kayaks, stand up paddle boards and cabanas located on site. The stunning bedrooms invite deep relaxation and a restful sleep.
“In a quiet retreat center,
teeming with birdlife, I got to drop into myself and my yoga practice. Heather beautifully guided us with well-planned sequencing designed to help deepen and replenish. It was a true privilege.”
~Douglas J. Chermak

The actual schedule varies per day. We will usually have two yoga-related activities together each day, whether it be pranayama, asana or group discussion.
The morning classes will be asana classes geared toward all levels.
The afternoon classes will be geared toward your specific interests and include restorative asana. We can focus on typical conditions we all face such as back pain, and issues in the neck and shoulders. These two afternoon sessions will help retreat participants and serve as teacher education for those who teach.
We will have afternoons free for activities on your own. Casa Tara is located near a UNESECO world heritage site and biosphere reserv. There is an incredible abundance of wildlife to enjoy. Hiking islands, snorkeling in the coral reefs and seeing whales can be part of the trip.
This program is especially aimed at adventurous people with an interest in personal growth, self-inquiry and conscious connection with oneself and fellow travelers.
A retreat is a quiet place that you go to in order to withdraw from the regular routine of daily life and rest in a private place. So you should feel comfortable keeping your phone away (for the most part).
This program is for people who have at least 1 year experience studying Iyengar Yoga consistently.
We have a “non-yoga participant” rate if you plan to attend with a partner or friend.
