Guru Purnima Celebration

July 21 @ 9:00 am - 10:45 am

Guru Purnima Celebration

Sunday, July 21st from 9 – 10:45 am PT on zoom

with Heather Haxo Phillips

Guru Purnima is a particularly auspicious time to express gratitude for spiritual teachers and holy beings that have positively affected us. To call someone a Guru is very special indeed. The term indicates the weight of their words which penetrate straight to your heart, and honors their counsel which serves as a literal beacon of light guiding you on your spiritual path.

Guru Purnima is celebrated in India and other countries as a time for spiritual momentum, to honor those who share their wisdom with us.

Held on the brightest full moon of the year, Guru Purnima is reminding us of the wisdom and guidance that the Guru shines on us all.

This special class will include:

  • Special chants that honor the Guru, ensure a successful student-teacher relationship and express gratitude for the full illumination of Purnima.
  • All-Levels asana practice using Light on Yoga as our guide
  • Stories about BKS Iyengar
  • Guidance about how to celebrate Guru Purnima on your own throughout the day

This program is for any student of Iyengar Yoga who would like to celebrate Guru Purnima and BKS Iyengar.  Beginners are welcome – seasoned students will also enjoy themselves.

You will need the props typical in an Iyengar Yoga class. Please have a belt, 3 – 4 blankets, a chair, a block & a cleared off wall space for your practice.  Need something for your practice? You can purchase any props from Adeline Yoga – pick up in Berkeley.

Use your membership, class pass or pay $29 to drop-in.

We plan that this zoom program will be recorded.  Every registrant will receive access to the recording for one month.
