Deepen your connection to your body – Increase your knowledge of how your body works
Anatomy is fun and fascinating, especially when you learn it in your body and on your mat!
Each session will begin with a lecture and a group discussion. We will end with asana where we can experience our own anatomy and how it movement works.
Open to all levels of students with at least three months of Yoga experience
December 10: The psoas
The psoas complex is actually two intertwining muscles that connected the upper body with the lower body and legs. The psoas is both a spinal stabilizer and hip flexor, helping you to walk, dance and do yoga. A tight psoas can profoundly affect the spine, the hips and pelvis – and your comfort level. When you learn to lengthen and relax the psoas, ahhhhhh you feel great!
December 17: The Sacrum
The sacrum is located below the spine inside the pelvis. It supports and balances all the weight of the upper body onto the legs. And oh my goodness it can go out of balance in so many ways! A balanced pelvis and sacrum is important for our spinal health and well being. Come learn about all the ways your sacrum can get out of balance – and what to can be done to get it back into alignment.
