Padmasana, also known as the Lotus Pose, is the supreme seat for meditation. It is associated with calmness, focus, and spiritual growth. Practicing this pose on August 20 is important! It marks nine years since the passing of BKS Iyengar.
We will use this time to explore BKS Iyengar’s contributions to the field of yoga. The lotus holds an important place in the yoga tradition as a symbol of prosperity and serenity. And, it was of the asanas that BKS Iyengar emphasized because of the way it opens the hips and clears the mind. Padmasana invites us to pay careful attention to each joint of the lower body, opening the energy centers in the body, promote stability and providing an aid to deepen meditation.
Join Anneke on this very special Sunday to honor the teachings of BKS Iyengar and practice this auspicious pose. Anneke will introduce ways to safely approach working with the hips, knees and ankles through a fun practice of poses that feature padmasana.
This workshop is geared towards students with at least one year of study in Iyengar yoga. Prior experience with padmasana is NOT required.
The workshop will be held in person at Adeline Yoga Studio in Berkeley, CA. OR signup to stream the workshop live. All participants will receive the recording.
