Places to Eat and Stay in Our Neighborhood

When you are visiting our studio, you are likely to get hungry!  Or maybe you need a place to stay?

We have lots of options for caffeine, food and places to stay.  The neighborhood is evolving, with new places popping up all the time.  Here are some of our favorites:

EASY WALKING DISTANCE – just down the block

Sweet Adeline Bakeshop – Honestly once of the best sweet shops in all the East Bay!  Its just a few doors down.  The yogis like their small chocolate cookies and ginger cookies – 3 for $1 is perfect with your tea

Red Bay Coffee – Our haven for the serious coffee drinkers.  Get there early enough in the day and you can check out their unique snacks too.

Donut Farm – Super yummy vegan donuts. You don’t have to be vegan to enjoy these yummy delights

A LITTLE FARTHER WALKING DISTANCE – 10 – 15 min away

Berkeley Bowl – The best grocery store in all of the Bay Area and maybe even the world.  Has a full service deli and lunch counter. Both locations are close.  The Shattuck location – Berkeley Bowl East – is easily walkable, about 15 min away.  There is a second location off San Pablo – Berkeley Bowl West – which is larger with a more comfortable sitting area.

Paradise Park Cafe – Great cafe, with yummy food, juices and smoothies that contain fresh locally sourced ingredients and are made to order. Its a nice 15 min walk down Alcatraz St.

Cafe Colucci – Cafe Colucci on San Pablo Ave serves traditional Ethiopian dishes made with fresh heirloom spices. An Oakland favorite since 1991! Its a nice 15 min – and down the street from a family of goats.

A SHORT DRIVE AWAY – 10  min away

Kitava – We LOVE Kitava, great for brunch, lunch, and dinner! They use real, fresh, and local ingredients.  You always feel great after a meal at Kitava.  We can give you a discount coupon, just ask at the front desk.

PLACES TO STAY

Airbnb offers many options within walking distance.

You will find plenty of options near Berkeley’s Downtown such as Hotel Shattuck Plaza and the Sens Hotel & Vanne Bistoro Berkeley (formerly the French Hotel) which are a short BART ride away.  Or check out Oakland’s downtown, which has chain hotels like the Marriott.
