Teaching yoga is our passion. It can also be a career. This workshop will offer you time to step off the mat to plan that career. There will be gems of information and insight for you in this workshop – whether you are a new teacher getting started, an experienced teacher looking to improve your earnings or an aspiring yoga business entrepreneur.

This workshop will offer an important overview of the opportunities for yoga teachers today, and concrete examples for you to implement immediately. Ideas for successful connections, tips on organizing your class schedule, negotiating your pay, retaining new students and creating additional revenue streams will all be richly detailed. You will get insight from an experienced yoga teacher and studio owner, and make connections with other yoga teachers who are in the same situation as you.

Heather Haxo Phillips is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor and is Director of Adeline Yoga. Her professional background includes community organizing, non-profit management and entrepreneurism. Together with her husband, Heather has owned three successful businesses. Heather taught her first business training course at age 25 and has never looked back. She is past President of the Board of Directors for the Iyengar Yoga Association of Northern California and an active volunteer for the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States. She is currently the president of the Lorin Business Association (LBA) the merchants association representing the Adeline Corridor.
Heather has been teaching for nearly 15 years. In addition to being an Iyengar Yoga teacher, Heather’s yoga certifications include: Certified Yoga Therapist (c-IAYT), Relax and Renew restorative yoga teacher and Yoga Alliance E-500 level instructor. She has specialized yoga therapy training which includes scoliosis, musculoskeletal injuries, pain management and women’s health including pre-natal yoga and menses. In addition to the being the director and lead instructor of the Adeline Sadhana Studies program, Heather assists senior teacher Carolyn Belko in her teacher education program in San Diego. Heather deepens her own practice by studying regularly with senior teachers including Carolyn Belko, Lois Steinberg and the Iyengar family in Pune.
