Teaching Back Extensions

March 30, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - March 31, 2019 @ 3:15 pm

Back extensions:  Teaching and Practice

Being a good yoga teacher comes from self-study and personal practice. In this weekend workshop we will focus on the back extensions on the Intro 1 and 2 syllabus. We will explore ways to sequence, to create linkages between poses, and the use of props and accommodations for a range of body types and situations.

Participants will get feedback on their teaching and gain confidence working with their students in a variety of situations.

Students will walk away with:

  • An enhanced teaching tool kit – How to develop observation skills, deliver instructions, modify and correct your students with maturity. We will practice the art of adjustments and modifications especially looking at structural issues.
  • A clear structure for understanding these specific asana and their sequencing.
  • Self-study tools – practice sequences and a homework assignment will connect you to the source material, your colleagues and teachers.

This course is geared toward teachers who are not yet CIYT and have some experience teaching back extensions. It is open to serious students, teachers-in-training, teachers of yoga from any tradition and CIYT.
