Join Heather for very special 3-Day  immersion

Our program will honor the seasonal transition to autumn by investigating twisting poses.

Twists are special for so many reasons!  First of all, they balance us out.  Every day we habitually favor one hand over the other, building strength in one arm over the other.  As a result, one side of the body is often overused.  Twists help take care of this problem, strengthening the spine, addressing asymmetry and reducing the likelihood of injury.

While the classical twisting poses are done sitting down, twists can be found in standing poses and inversions. There are foundational twists and twists for intermediate practitioners – even advanced twists.  Its a huge variety!

Twists also help us free our groins, open the hips and create space in the lower back. They massage and tone our internal organs, support good digestion and awaken Prana, our life force.

Coolest of all:  twists are all about repetition!  They give us an opportunity to coordinate movement of our body with breath movement. Each time, we can see to what extent the spine is actually able to turn.  In this way, repetition helps us connect with our own self at a proper pace.  BKS Iyengar has explained that repetition in twists “gives the body the time and space required to bloom and sync with the breath.”

Our time together will be progressive, each session of weekend-long immersion will be built on the previous session.  The purpose?  To promote happiness! We will enjoy the positive energy of being together and seeing our practice evolve over the three days.

This is an opportunity for plenty of personalized attention and hands-on help with your poses.  We will work step by step, making each asana feel accessible and attainable.

“This asana allows the mind to penetrate inward with each deepening breath.  When body, breath and mind walk in tandem, one discovers the true essence of asana practice”
-BKS Iyengar Aarogya Yoga Chapter 31.

What students think of these Immersions:

“For me, these Immersions are all about filling in elements that we miss in our Zoom practices. I experience increased concentration and focus; energy feedback and exchange with my peers; and knowing that my teacher can effectively see me and offer more personal, structured instruction for improved posture and alignment.  The weekend was just what I needed and I will sign up for any of these in the future. The format, timing, progression of posture over three days worked great for me.” – Alanna S.

“I discovered Adeline Yoga on zoom.  As a new student, and probably the least experienced practitioner in the class, it was all upside for me. I learned a lot!  I really enjoyed the group and energy – and the chanting. For me right now, I know I will make progress faster with occasional in-person classes.  Adeline Yoga offers great teaching and a great community.  The studio brings a lot of light to many people. ”
– Jeff J.
