Twists are great rejuvenators and tension releasers. And, they are fun to do! Twists remove lethargy, increase vitality, free up the breath and can remove back pain. B.K.S. Iyengar describes twists how the “squeeze-and-soak” wringing action of these poses flushes the organs, stimulates circulation and nourishes tissues.
This workshop will explore basic principles of twists and then apply them to a variety of postures both standing and sitting. As part of the Step It Up series, we will look at principles of how twisting actions can be used in intermediate asanas.
