Step it Up: Playful Parivrttas with Anneke Faas

July 1, 2018 @ 12:45 pm - 3:15 pm

Let’s Twist!

Twists are great rejuvenators and tension releasers. And, they are fun to do! Twists remove lethargy, increase vitality, free up the breath and can remove back pain. B.K.S. Iyengar describes twists how the “squeeze-and-soak” wringing action of these poses flushes the organs, stimulates circulation and nourishes tissues.

This workshop will explore basic principles of twists and then apply them to a variety of postures both standing and sitting. As part of the Step It Up series, we will look at principles of how twisting actions can be used in intermediate asanas.

This workshop is part of the “Step It Up!” Series for regular level 1 students who want to progress to level 2 classes.  It is most appropriate for those who have at least one year experience in Iyengar Yoga.

What is “Step it Up”?

A special series for experienced level 1 students.  “Step it Up” will give you the confidence to move into taking Level 2 classes. Students often ask, “what is the difference between a Level 1 class and a Level 2 class?” and “How do I know that I am ready to graduate to Level 2?” This workshop will help you feel comfortable in a level 2 class.  Each “Step it Up” workshop focuses on a particular category of poses, reviewing important poses and preparing you for level 2 poses. You will build your strength, stamina and flexibility!
