Sunday August 28, 12 – 2:30 pm, In-person with option to join via livestream
Our lifestyles have changed dramatically in the last few years. Many of us are in need of methods that help us develop proper ways to sit and care for our hips.
Asana can be so incredibly helpful in helping us care for our hips and feel comfortable sitting. In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali tell us “sthira-sukham asanam” (Sutra 2.46). Which can roughly translated as “postures should be stable and comfortable”, a balance between effort and ease.
Padmasana or “lotus pose” is considered the most stable and auspicious of seats for meditation. It requires both mobility and stability in the hip, knee and ankle joints. The process of exploring the movements and actions of padmasana in the lower body not only develops a stable seat, but also brings vitality to the legs and hips. This helps develop a lovely balance between effort and ease.
In this special workshop, Anneke will introduce ways to safely approach working with the hips, knees and ankles through a fun practice of poses that feature padmasana.
This workshop is geared towards students with at least one year of study in Iyengar yoga. Prior experience with padmasana is NOT required.
The workshop will be held in person at Adeline Yoga Studio in Berkeley, CA and limited spots will be available with the possibility to stream the workshop live. All participants will receive the recording.
