Cultivate Expansiveness: An Afternoon of Backbending with Anneke Faas

Cultivate Expansiveness: An Afternoon of Backbending with Anneke Faas

Sunday Nov 3rd, 1:00-3:30pm

Join us at the studio in Berkeley or online via Zoom

Backbends are impressive to look at, though the reason why we love them is they give us a very special experience of introspection. The more advanced backbends take our consciousness inwards so we have the chance to go to a very quiet place within ourselves. It can be quite magical!

This workshop is your opportunity to become a true “space detective”. With Anneke, you will explore the challenging and rewarding family of backbending asanas and look inside yourself to see the spaciousness that already exists – and the places where you can find even more expansion.

We will use a progressive approach to sequencing that brings the mind inward and ultimately places you as the practitioner with your body and mind well beyond where you started. Backbends teach us to cultivate expansiveness, introspection, and tolerance…all things that are so needed right now in this world.

This workshop is best suited for students who have been practicing Iyengar Yoga for 2-3 consistent years – and are excited to go deeper into the uncharted universe of back extensions. You must be able to push up into Urdhva Dhanurasana from the floor either independently or with the help of a bolster and blocks. No acute shoulder injuries please.

This program offers hybrid options, either in-person or online. All students will have access to the recording for 30 days.

Participants can go home having walked on cloud 9, full of elation and satisfaction for having expanded beyond your everyday capacity.
