Connecting with the posterior body brings inner awareness and receptivity which are required in the practice of Yoga. When we delve into the known – the body – through inner awareness and receptivity, we may get a glimpse into the unknown – the soul. Backbends such as Salabasana (locust) Ustrasana (camel) and Urdhva Danurasana (bow) are a key way to connect with the posterior body and bring forth this connection to our true selves.
In this weekend-long intensive, Carolyn will bring forth actions and sequences that harness the inner power of backbend practices. Through asana and pranayama, participants will understand the sensations and actions required to bring confidence and stability in all types of backbends.
The weekend is opportunity to dive into the heart of Iyengar Yoga with one of California’s most experienced Iyengar Yoga teachers. It is open to students with at least 1 year experience practicing Iyengar Yoga.
Participants should plan to register for all three sessions of the workshop. The teacher education and free talk are optional.
Space will be limited, so please register early.
Free talk: Karma Yoga and the Path of a Seeker
Karma Yoga is the Path of Action that we walk in life. In this free talk, Carolyn will discuss the definition and effects of the Karma Yoga that we experience as sadhakas (seekers). She will outline how we can make steps towards the practice of Karma Yoga in our daily life.
This free talk is open to our entire community and anyone interested in deepening their connection to Yoga.
Teacher Education: Creating a bridge
Teacher education will focus on knowledge of asana that bridges between the Introductory and Junior levels.
