Adeline Yoga Community Survey: What We Learned

By The Adeline Yoga Team

We asked, you answered—91 of you, to be exact.

In early 2025, we invited our community to share a bit about their experience at Adeline Yoga: what you love, what you’d like more of, and how we can continue to support your journey. And wow—did you show up.

Your thoughtful insights, honest feedback, and a few brilliant ideas (yes, we took notes!) gave us inspiration, clarity, and a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.

Here’s a peek at what you shared—and how your voice is helping shape what’s next at Adeline Yoga.

🧘‍♀️ Who Makes Up the Adeline Yoga Community?

You might be wondering: Who else practices at Adeline Yoga?

We took a closer look at the survey responses, and what we found reflects something really special. Of the 28 people we could identify, the average age was 61—a beautiful reminder that Adeline is home to a vibrant, seasoned, and deeply committed community.

Most survey respondents were in their 50s, 60s, and 70s, with a few in their 30s and 80s rounding out the spectrum. It’s a clear sign that Iyengar Yoga isn’t just a phase—it’s a lifelong practice.

AND as one of our teachers so perfectly said:

“Young people don’t seem to fill out surveys 😉 but they are coming to our classes—and they’re an amazing addition to Adeline.”

So while this snapshot doesn’t tell the whole story, it does highlight something we already know to be true: Adeline is a place where students grow, evolve, and stay rooted in their yoga practices for decades.

💛 What is one thing you appreciate most about the studio?

Again and again, we heard words like:
“Community.” “Welcoming.” “Supportive.” “Knowledgeable and skilled teachers.”

Many of you shared how much you value the energy of the studio—not just from fellow students, but from our teachers as well. You spoke about the sense of belonging, the thoughtful teaching, and how our instructors are able to work with different bodies and offer personal attention that truly meets you where you are.

It tells us we’re on the right path: holding space for growth, while encouraging students to gently stretch—not just in asana, but sometimes off the mat, too.

One student put it simply:

“The genuineness of the community. Everyone is so caring. That and the excellent, excellent teachers!”

Feedback like this warms our hearts. It reminds us why Adeline Yoga exists—to be a place where people of all backgrounds and experience levels can grow in a meaningful and lasting way.

🧘 What are three of the main reasons you come to class?

We offered quite a few options in this part of the survey, but the top responses easily rose to the surface—and honestly, they reflect exactly what Iyengar Yoga was built for:

  • To become more flexible and maintain mobility
  • Because you love practicing yoga (We loved hearing this too! 💛)
  • To learn more about your body—yes! Yoga offers insight into your body in ways you may not experience anywhere else.
  • To become stronger—not just physically, but mentally as well. Strength on all levels is part of the practice.

Of course, we all bring different reasons for why we’ve invited yoga into our lives. Knowing your reasons helps us create classes, workshops, series, and retreats that truly meet you where you are—and support you, no matter what brings you to the mat.

What you want more of:

Oh yes, your top priorities were loud and clear. Here’s what many of you are craving more of at Adeline Yoga:

  • Yoga Philosophy – Yes! We hear your desire to take yoga off the mat and deepen your understanding of its roots. This kind of learning nourishes the mind, spirit, and practice.
  • Chanting – Our hearts are beaming! Chanting is a powerful tool for grounding, calming the nervous system, and creating a sense of connection.
  • Restorative Yoga – You asked, and we delivered: we’ve just added a new online Restorative class with May Mei Chong on Mondays at 7 pm.
  • More Chit Chats and Freebies – We got ‘em!  Don’t forget to check out our OnDemand feature on the Momence app. You’ll find free classes, including Chit Chats and more, ready to support your home practice.
  • Pranayama – This subtle yet powerful aspect of yoga continues to be a request. We will bring you more opportunities to explore it. For now you can purchase recordings of a recent pranayama immersion here.

These responses are exciting because they show a shared desire to keep learning and growing together. We’re already looking at how to bring more of these offerings into your practice this year and beyond.

🔄 Would you find accountability challenges helpful?

Accountability challenges? Our team loves the idea. But we also know they’re not everyone’s cup of chai.

That said, many of you are got excited. Of the students who answered this question:

  • 50% said they’d love accountability to help build a consistent home practice
  • Nearly 40% were interested in support around starting a mindful morning routine

We have lots of ideas brewing and hope to offer something in the future. In the meantime, we encourage you to connect with others in the Adeline community. Introduce yourself to somebody you’ve never met, plan to hang out at one of our three cafes after class, tell your teacher you would like a little more accountability. A little shared encouragement can go a long way.

And if you do start something? We’d love to hear how it’s going!

And, here’s a snapshot of what you had to say—visualized.

Each word came from your responses, and together, they paint a portrait of this community.

❤️ And Just One More Thing…

We also asked: “Is there any way Adeline Yoga can support you that we’re currently not doing?” and “Is there anything else you want us to know?”

Your answers were wide-ranging and deeply thoughtful—no two exactly the same, except for one beautiful theme:

You love us. And we love you right back. 🧡

A few important things we want to say loud and clear:

  • Online classes? Not going anywhere.
  • Hybrid options? Still a go.
  • Our teaching team? Here to stay.
  • More class times? Always on our radar when space allows.
  • And most of all: We’re here. A steady presence. A beacon in the community.

We’re so grateful you shared your voice with us. Your feedback doesn’t just sit in a file—it actively shapes what we offer and how we grow.

Thank you for being part of Adeline Yoga. We’re so excited for what we’ll create together in the seasons ahead.

Have more to share? Don’t be shy—we’d love to hear from you, anytime. Leave a comment, send us an email or share with your teacher.
