We all experience anxiety at one time or another, as butterflies in the stomach, stage fright, nerves or worry. Good and challenging events can cause it. Usually the feeling of being anxious is manageable, and dissipates once the source of anxiety has passed. However, extreme anxiety can interfere with your ability to function, and signals the need for greater attention.
Anxiety exists in the mind and comes from a fear of the unknown, coupled with a lack of trust (in yourself, others, the universe!). However, since the mind and body are so deeply interconnected, the cause and effect can be tricky to sort out.
A regular practice of yoga can act as preventative medicine, AND give you valuable tools to help you handle an acute anxiety attack. In this two-hour workshop, we will explore some of the roots of anxiety in the mind, as well as asana and breathing practices that will provide relief and bring balance to your daily life.
